The Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics & Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as XTIPC) is located in Urumqi, Xinjiang. It was founded in June 2002 through the merger of the former Xinjiang Institute of Physics and the former Xinjiang Institute of Chemistry, both of which were affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
XTIPC focuses on the research of interdisciplinary fields in physics, chemistry and engineering technology. The research fields including: Opto-electronic Functional Material, Temperature-sensitive Materials and Devices, Solid State Radiation Physics, Plant Resources Chemistry, Multilingual Information Technology, Sepatration Materials and Technology, and Trace Chemical Substances Sensing.
XTIPC employs more than 450 staff members,
has over 400 staffs and over 400 postgraduate students. Around 89% of the staff is devoted themselves in the scientific and technological research. There are 50 professors and 67 associated professors among the staff.
XTIPC has set up 1 National Joint Laboratory for China – Uzbekistan New Drug Development supported by the Belt and Road Initiative, 1 overseas institution of CAS, 2 CAS key laboratories, 1 State Key Laboratory Cultivation Base, 4 Xinjiang key laboratories, 4 engineering centers, and several technology supporting centers.
There are 4 Xinjiang academic societies affiliated to XTIPC, including Xinjiang Physics Society, Xinjiang Chemistry Society, Xinjiang Physiological Science Society and Xinjiang Nuclear Society.
