Liu Hong, who is a professor of National Key Laboratory of Crystal Materials in Shandong University and one of the national outstanding youths, visited XJIPC on August 6th, 2009. He is mainly engaged in the research of single crystal materials, ceramics materials,nano-materials andtissue engineering materials. During the visit, he gave a wonderful report named as “tissue engineering materials of cartilage”.
It is a new subject which combines cell biology and materials, pointing on the regeneration of tissues and organs in or out of the body. Firstly, cells are seeded in the materials with the shape similar to the organs then grow up to be new tissue and organs, which aims to repair the defection tissues of human body. The tissue engineering can provide new tissues and organs for the patients to replace the damaged parts. As one of the important components of Clinical medicine, it is equal or even better than the present medical cures, attracting more and more people to study.
Professor Liu encouraged the researchers and the graduate students to be innovative and to endure the failure. He also emphasized the exchanges of different subjects and welcomed the young scholars to visit Shandong University. |
