Resume
He received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Nanjing Forestry University (2005) and Kunming University of Science and Technology (2008), China, respectively. He earned a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Kobe University, Japan (2013). He has since worked as a postdoctoral researcher until 2020 in Molecular Protoscience Research Center, Kobe University. He was employed as a research associate by the Chemistry Department, Kobe University, from 2020 to 2021. He joined in the Technical Institute of Physics & Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2021.

Main Research Areas and Achievements:
He focuses on studying the interactions between terahertz (THz) radiation with solid matter through an interplay between THz spectroscopy and solid-state density functional theory. He invented Zhang’s formula, which allows the decomposition of the three principal librations of any molecules or atomic vibrational entities in a THz mode. On this basis, he realized the quantitative characterization of the origins of THz modes and their IR intensities. His current interests are the interactions between THz radiation and matter on the nanometer scale and developing new-generation nonlinear crystals emitting high-filed THz radiations.
