The Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry (XTIPC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was established in its current form in 2002, through the merger of two pioneering institutions — the Xinjiang Institute of Physics and the Xinjiang Institute of Chemistry — both founded in 1958. For nearly seventy years, we have built on this legacy with unwavering commitment to advancing science for the benefit of society. Today, our work spans the global frontiers of science, addresses national strategic priorities, and responds to the economic and social development needs of Xinjiang, yielding landmark contributions in optoelectronic crystal materials, thermosensitive materials and devices, solid-state radiation physics, ethnic medicine innovation, multilingual information technology, and energy and chemical engineering.
As we enter the 15th Five-Year Plan period, XTIPC will continue to build on our strengths in functional materials and devices designed for extreme environments, advancing optoelectronic crystals, thermosensitive devices, and radiation-hardening technologies for aerospace, nuclear energy, and related strategic sectors. We will also foster closer collaboration between multilingual intelligence research and advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing for ethnic medicines — using language technology to support regional development and AI-driven drug discovery — all in service of the high-quality development of the Silk Road. In parallel, we are tackling key technologies for low-carbon, multi-energy integrated systems that combine wind, solar, and coal resources, while advancing clean gasification and high-value resource utilization to drive the green transition of the energy and chemical sector.
We are deeply committed to building and nurturing a world-class workforce — attracting and developing outstanding scientists, engineers, and administrative leaders. Backed by our premier research platforms, we will continue to advance fundamental research, mission-driven projects, and the transfer and commercialization of scientific discoveries, ensuring that more of our work delivers tangible impact in Xinjiang and contributes to the development of the core region of the Silk Road Economic Belt.
As the saying goes, "kindred spirits are never parted by distance." We offer our sincere thanks to all partners and friends around the world who have supported the Institute over the years. We extend a warm invitation to research teams, companies, and talented students everywhere to join us in shaping what comes next.
