On March 25, Elsevier released its 2024 list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers," with Pan Shilie and Yang Zhihua, both researchers from XTIPC, being re-elected to the list for the fifth consecutive year.
Prof. Pan Shilie (in discipline of Materials Science and Engineering) has long been engaged in research on inorganic optoelectronic functional crystal materials, achieving a series of innovative results in fields such as novel nonlinear optical materials and birefringent materials. Prof. Yang Zhihua (in discipline of Electronics Science and Technology) focuses on the design, high-throughput prediction, screening, and preparation of optoelectronic functional crystal materials, addressing key scientific issues such as new material design and performance improvement mechanisms. He has made innovative contributions to nonlinear optical response mechanisms and the design of novel deep-ultraviolet nonlinear optical materials.
The 2024 "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" list includes a total of 6,388 scholars from 547 universities, enterprises, and research institutions, covering 83 first-level disciplines across 10 academic fields designated by the Ministry of Education. Among them, 376 scholars are in Materials Science and Engineering, and 141 are in Electronics Science and Technology.
This list is compiled using data from Scopus, Elsevier's citation and indexing database, and adopts methodologies developed by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. It systematically evaluates Chinese scholars' research contributions and innovative values in their respective fields through multiple indicators. By leveraging long-term citation data of scholars' academic achievements and visualizing research impact analysis, it helps scholars establish unique academic identities within their specialized fields, enhancing the recognition of their research outcomes in both academia and industry. After eleven years of continuous publication, this list has become an important benchmark for assessing the international academic influence of Chinese scholars, attracting widespread attention from authoritative media and academic circles.
