From March 25 to 30, Prof. Sun Zhengwen, Director of the Central Asian Drug Research and Development Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (as “the Center”), and his delegation went to Uzbekistan to supervise the work of the Tashkent Base of the Center. During the visit, they visited the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, the Institute of Phytochemistry, and the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, as well as the Andijan State Medical Institute.

During the visit to the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Sun Zhengwen and his delegation inspected the operation of the China-Uzbekistan Cooperative Laboratory of Biopharmaceuticals, the China-Uzbekistan Cooperative Laboratory of Natural Drugs, and the China-Uzbekistan Cooperative Laboratory of Microbiology jointly established by XTIPC and the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, the Institute of Phytochemistry, and the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. They also held talks with Academician Shavkat Salikhov, also a Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, former president of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, and director of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan; Academician Sagdullaev Shamansur, Director of the Institute of Phytochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan; and Academician Kakhramon Davranov, Director of the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. On behalf of the Center, Sun Zhengwen expressed his heartfelt gratitude to them for their outstanding contributions to the construction and development of the Center over the years, and conducted in-depth discussions with them to further the bilateral cooperations.

Sun Zhengwen and his delegation also visited the Andijan State Medical Institute, where they met with Professor M. Madazimov, the president of the institute. The two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation to further deepen cooperation in scientific research, academic exchanges, and talent cultivation.
